Duckling Hatching Program for Schools - Bathurst and Orange
Our breeds

As a small-scale farm, we are focused on high-quality, free range living for our birds. We keep a mix of what we have found to be the most relaxed, docile and children-friendly breeds for our programs including; Wyandotte, Brahma, Plymouth Rock and Sussex. Our ducks are Pekins.

The eggs you receive for your program may be any mix / cross of these breeds. Eggs from our rainbow egg pen may be substituted where necessary.

Poultry welfare

We care for our flock extremely well which means we mostly produce healthy hatchlings. Life, unfortunately does see the occasional health problem arise and in these instances, we provide full support in how to appropriately manage the situation.

In other cases, should you no longer be capable of caring for your adopted chick / duck, please let us know so that we can help.

Post-program adoption

Educators and parents have the option at the end of the program to adopt. We highly advise on making sure that you have the space, capacity and time to care for your new family members if this is the case.

Our minimum
adoption policy is two chicks for companionship reasons. There is no adoption charge and resource material is provided from the start for support.

Rooster return service

Approximately half of the chicks that hatch will grow to be roosters. We provide a Rooster Return service for roosters 6 weeks +. We will also accept hens / ducks in the event you are no longer able to care for them. It is okay to acknowledge that you cannot adopt. We simply want what is best for our chicks.

Please contact us via email to organise a day and time for this.
